Head of Product Development - Typology [CDI]
Good Brands is the company behind Typology (minimalist, science-backed skincare) and Sujet Parfums (agricultural authenticity-focused perfumes). We're scaling globally across France, Germany, the US, and Japan, while expanding into retail and launching new brands.
We're Doers — we move fast, prioritize substance over showmanship, and go the extra mile. We value low ego, high impact, and relentless attention to detail.
Location: Paris, 11th Arrondissement (Onsite)
Company: Good Brands (Typology, Sujet Parfums)
The Role
As Head of Product Development for Typology, you will lead a team of 8 people across product development (skincare, tinted care, haircare, packaging), R&D (in-house lab), scientific communication, and quality assurance.
You'll be responsible for conceptualising, developing, and optimising products that are both on-brand and innovative — delivering the best possible experience for our customers while maintaining our reputation for quality and substance.
This role is critical and strategic. You'll work directly with the founder, senior leadership, supply & ops, and creative teams. You'll shape our product pipeline for the next 3 years, navigate international expansion, manage retail experiments, and ensure operational excellence across development and supplier relationships.
You are the guardian of a culture of excellence, innovation, and execution.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the Product Development Pipeline
Propose new innovations across skincare, merchandising, and packaging
Prioritise: Fast-track high-potential projects, kill what's not working
Troubleshoot and problem-solve roadblocks during development with speed and precision
Allocate resources across team members, in-house lab, and manufacturing partners
2. Operational Excellence & Supplier Management
Negotiate pricing to protect margins while maintaining quality
Align development with supply chain efficiency
Source new suppliers and develop on going relationships to expand capabilities
Manage supplier performance and ensure consistent quality standards
3. Cross-Functional Leadership
Attract, develop, and retain top talent — build a high-performing, collaborative team
Create synergies between scientific communication, R&D, and development teams
Bridge silos: ensure seamless collaboration across creative, ops, and leadership
4. Guardian of Culture: Excellence & Innovation
Lead by example on Good Brands values: Doer, Open Mind, Extramile
Promote a fast-moving, detail-driven mindset — we ship quality, not perfection
Set the bar high for innovation, rigor, and team accountability
What We're Looking For
Experience & Expertise
10+ years in product development within beauty, skincare, or personal care
Deep knowledge of formulation, industrial constraints, packaging, and regulatory requirements
Commercial instinct for detecting trends and translating them into products that perform
Operational rigor — you understand margins, timelines, supplier dynamics, and manufacturing realities
Mindset & Leadership
Low ego, high impact — you lead by doing, not by status
Detail-obsessed — you care about the small things because they matter
Fast-moving — you make decisions, iterate, and don't get stuck in analysis paralysis
Builder mentality — you attract talent, develop people, and create high-performing teams
Communication & Collaboration
Fluent in French and English — you can operate across markets and bridge global/local priorities
You understand and appreciate great copywriting — product stories matter as much as formulations
Comfortable working directly with the founder and senior leadership in a hands-on, high-accountability environment
Why Join Us?
Shape the future of a disruptive, fast-growing brand with real substance and global reach
Lead high-impact projects with significant revenue implications and visibility
Work in a culture that values execution, humility, and going the extra mile
Competitive compensation, equity, and meaningful career growth in a company that's still early enough to make a real mark
